Hamburg Airport Arrivals (HAM)

Hamburg Airport offers ample facilities to meet international visitors’ expectations. Though Hamburg Airport is the oldest German airport still in operation, it has been greatly transformed in recent years to provide maximum comfort to passengers.

Arrivals at Hamburg Airport can look forward to many modern services provided in the two terminal buildings to make their visit to Hamburg special. An information and help desk in the airport office can assist visitors with all the required information in terms of onward journeys, car rental and hotel accommodation in the airport complex and Hamburg city centre. Arrivals at Hamburg Airport can book their overnight accommodation for any hotel or guesthouse at the information desk.

Hamburg Airport arrivals can make use of business services at the airport office, where keys or documents can be deposited and business visitors can use fax and photocopying services.

Arrivals at Hamburg Airport booked in for business meetings or seminars can enjoy the airport’s conference centre facilities. In total the airport has 7 conference rooms equipped with modern business facilities and each room can accommodate up to 80 people. Additional trolley services are also provided. Equipment such as media trolleys with VHS, DVD, projector and TV, can be hired for the cost of 50.00 Euros per hour. Another conference centre can be found at Terminal 2.

Hamburg Airport arrivals can also take advantage of VIP services such as separate VIP. A more secluded parking lot is provided at the cost 30.00 Euros for every 4 hours. A VIP bus will pick VIP Hamburg Airport arrivals up in the event their plane stops some walking distance away from the arrivals terminal. VIP services offered at the airport lounge are charged at 23.80 Euros per person.

There are several car rental companies operating from Hamburg Airport. Hamburg Airport arrivals can rent vehicles from the fleets of Avis, Hertz, Terstappen, Europcar and Sixt. The car rental counters can be found on Level 0 of Terminal 2.

The taxi rank is located outside the terminal. From here Hamburg Airport arrivals can get a taxi to Hamburg city centre or to the main train station. The airport also offers railway services located in front of the terminals. Metro trains run every 10-20 minutes to city centre locations.

Hamburg Airport arrivals wishing to use the S-Bahn train should know that trains do not operate between the city and the airport during the hours of midnight to 4.00 am. There are no flights during the hours of 11.00 pm to 6.00 am due to night time flight restrictions.

Hamburg has many tourist attractions. For a start, there is the largest seaport in Europe, inviting visitors on a harbour tour by boat. The infamous red light district of the Reeperbahn district attracts thousands of tourists every year, lured by the relaxed attitude towards nudity and risky shows that are put on by the many clubs in the district.

Arrivals at Hamburg Airport can also look forward to many family tourist attractions, from one of the world’s largest miniature railway complexes at Miniatur Wunderland located in Hamburg’s Speicherstadt (ancient warehouse complex) to Hagenbeek’s Zoo, one of the world’s oldest and largest zoos still in operation.
